Roundstone Summerfest was born in 2002. The backdrop to this new festival would be the sound of traditional Irish music. It was to be a festival of fun, games, laughter and most of all, that very elusive Irish quality... craic! Charities would also benefit; collections would take place at various times over the weekend and monies would be donated to The Lifeboats.
There would be events for the young folk to keep them occupied, happy, entertained and enthralled over the four days. But let’s face it; kids rarely come along to this type of carry-on unaccompanied, so more events were added on to keep the adults amused (and if the truth be told, to keep the kids amused while looking at the carry-on of the adults!).
Unlike many other festivals, the majority of events are free of charge. Children in particular should be able to enjoy themselves as much as possible for as little as possible. In return, all that is asked is that everyone donates whatever they can to the worthy cause that is the Lifeboats Service.
Summerfest is a festival where people of all ages can relax, have fun, mingle with everyone and generally take a step back from the daily grind to enjoy themselves.
