At a recent visit to Inishmor, the Roundstone Summerfest committee made a presentation of €4,000 to the Aran Islands Lifeboat. These funds were directly raised during this years Summerfest from various events that took place during the festival from t-shirt sales, to bucket collections, to unique individual items such as the Summerfest Cow Plop! This is the 6th year that Roundstone Summerfest has supported the local Lifeboat organisations, and we are very proud to be associated with such a worthwhile cause. Further donations will also be handed over in the coming weeks to the Clifden RNLI and the Irish Water Safety Council. Roundstone Summerfest would like to thank all our volunteers and supporters without whom none of this would be possible, and we look forward to continuing our efforts in 2008.

Great News!! Celtic Rock maestros The Rye have just been confirmed for this years Roundstone Summerfest. They will play a post-Beat-On-The-Street gig in The Shamrock Bar on Friday 17th August. Definitely one not to be missed!!!
“the liveliest band to come out of the West of Ireland since the Saw Doctors.” - Galway Bay FM
“Their music is a lively fusion of Irish roots, including elements of Irish traditional, country, reggae, folk, rock, blues and soul…A gig by The Rye is a raucous night out, as if the ship manned by The Pogues has been taken over by an equally unhinged crew” - Tribune Life

Reknowned teller of Irish Myths, Folklore and Legends, Eddie Lenihan, is taking part in this years Roundstone Summerfest. From the escapades of Fionn McCumhaill and the Fianna, to tales of St. Patrick and the Faeries, these stories tell of the adventures and bravery of the ancient Irish heroes in the face of scary and spooky challenges. Not to be missed!

On Friday 23th March 2007, the Summerfest Committee was awarded the Robb Memorial Plaque and Trophy for “Outstanding Fundraising” by the Irish RNLI Lifeboat Service. This was in recognition by the huge efforts undertaken for the past 5 years by Roundstone Summerfest. It is thanks to the many many volunteers, sponsors, artists, musicians and members of the local and visiting community that this achievement has been realised. Roundstone Summerfest is particularly proud of this award and to be associated with such a worthwhile local charity. Here’s to another successful fundraising year in 2007!
